THIS WEEK WE CONSIDER those thinkers who argued in support of a greater role for the community in the lives of men and women, and once again we will consider three primary sources. The first is The Rule of Saint Augustine (ca. 400). The second is chapter one of The Communist Manifesto (1848) by Karl Marx and Frederich Engels. The third is The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

To give you time to finish up your final writing assignment, there is once again no online exercise this week. But I encourage you to come to office hours or send me a draft of your essay via e-mail. I assure you it will improve your grade; this is your last chance to raise your average before the final.
